Lessons and Specialties

Success in learning frequently depends on finding the right Piano Instructor; someone who knows the subject well and understands how to inspire others. My teaching style focuses on skills training, but also emphasizes self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new.

Using different methods depending on age and goals, my lessons are designed to meet the specific needs of each individual student while providing a strong musical program which lays a lasting foundation in all aspects of a traditional classical musical education.

All classes are structured based on the following elements: interpretation, technique, repertoire, theory, sight reading, ear training, rudiments, and keyboard harmony. There is significant emphasis on sight reading and ear training.

Students grow with challenges and music training provides an opportunity to meet challenges as well as experience success.

A musical education encourages concentration, coordination, and confidence in students which carries over into their adult life.

BEGINNER PIANO LESSONS

Individual instruction allows each student to learn at their own pace without the pressure of examinations. They will experience the joy and challenge of making real music and, as they continue their lessons, they are gradually exposed to a range of keyboard styles including classical, pop, folk, jazz, country and modern.

ACCREDITED PATH

I follow the RCM and the BCCM syllabus and prepare students for examinations and/or festivals. Participation in examinations and festivals is not mandatory but it is encouraged to demonstrate what progress the student has made. Recital, master classes and mini-recitals are held throughout the year.

ENSEMBLE TRAINING SESSIONS

Duet and ensemble training is highly encouraged because of the educational musical benefits that include rhythmic sense, listening skills, tonal balance, and sensitivity. Duet and ensemble training can enrich the music experience and provide some of the most memorable and lasting experiences in anyone's musical education.
